Delicate white enamel mourning ring for William Stanley 1768 with a ribbon border of pyrites and a glazed locket centre.

White enamel denoting the unmarried status of the deceased. As is so often the case with unmarried  persons they are much more difficult to trace, but it seems clear such a fine and rare ring would have only been made for the extremely wealthy.

Finely modelled split shoulders continuing to the prettiest of white enamel shanks reading 'Willm Stanley Ob 2 July 1768 Aet 38'.

Size 7. Weight 2.7grams. Condition excellent overall however there are a few missing microscopic pyrites only visible with a loupe.

Scarce form of mourning ring.
