Highly domed Victorian opal three stone ring in a 15ct gold carved shank c.1890.
The three stones are unusually high cabochon with extraordinary life and fire, flecks of green, red and blue, a hypnotic display of colours. Tiny rose diamonds flank the main stone.
Just smaller than a size 7.
The word 'opal' is adapted from the Latin term opalus. The origin is debated but likely adapted from the Sanskrit word úpala meaning ‘precious stone’.
