Romantic early c19th Swedish locket ring the bezel in the form of an envelope c.1840.
The repoussé gold work parallels the English rings of the same period,
the shoulders of the shank decorated with roses and shell scrolls. The envelope itself is engraved with ruched folds and tied with a ribbon. The locket now vacant would no doubt have originally contained a lock of hair. The ring symbolises a love letter from the giver.
The band is fully marked for Sweden 18 carat, with makers mark A.W.
Rare to find in such lovely condition.
Size 6.5.
