Regency 15 carat two colour gold squirrel fob seal c.1820. 
The squirrel sits on a mound of leaves in  an alert pose, the base draped with leaves and studded with turquoise.
The amethyst intaglio is carved with a spray of roses, thistles and shamrock symbol of the Act of Union of 1801.
The squirrel represents resourcefulness, preparation, and playfulness. It is worth remembering that squirrels were popular pets throughout the c18th and early c19th.
