Most unusual George II period mourning ring composed of scrolled enamel panels with a small skull motif to the centre, dated 1746.

The dedication reads ‘Ino Simms Ob 5 Dec 1746 ae 46’. The name is likely a shortened version of Jonathan.

There are pairs of C-scrolls resembling crossbones between the enamel sections.

High carat gold and enamel.

The ring has a small historic solder repair to the interior of the band.

I haven’t seen this particular pattern before.

Size 4.5. UK size J.
