Superb large scale navette pendant with seedpearl and diamond bouquet on cobalt glass with charming watercolour to the reverse c.1780.
The intricate floral spray sits under a deeply domed crystal cover bordered by seedpearls. The sepia watercolour to the reverse depicts an interpretation of the parable of the Good Samaritan tending to the sick and wounded traveller. The Samaritan’s donkey waits at the back of the scene. I cannot find a parallel navette with a sepia of this subject so quite possibly this work is unique.
Condition is very fine.
