Beautifully curved and hinged Rococo silver paste collar with ribbon fittings c.1760.
A rare survival with all the graduated and articulated floral and foliate sections.
At some point the original bow and drop must have been removed and was probably worn alone and then became forever separated. This invariably happens with these collars and just occasionally I have sourced a replacement. This may happen yet!
Quite often in portraits these collars are shown worn over ruffled silk ribbon at the neck and then tied with more ribbon at the back.
10 inches in length.
Quite wearable as a diadem in the hair too.
True historical jewellery and the quintessence of c18th Rococo splendour.
