Rose-cut diamond jewel in the form of a parrot with outstretched wings alighting upon a basket full of flowers c.1750.
Quintessentially French Rococo, this jewel,formerly a hair or costume ornament, evokes the designs of Parisian jeweller Jean-Henri-Prosper Pouget(d.1769).
Silver set,with gold legs. 1.5 inches by 1.25inches.
The silver loop at the back may originally have been used to attach onto a stomacher at the front of the dress.
