Regency floral spray pin c.1830.
Fashioned in 15 carat gold in the hyper naturalistic style so popular in the late Georgian and early Victorian period where all manner of blooms held hidden meanings to the giver, an era where the ‘language of flowers’, floriography, attached symbolism to each flower.
This bouquet holds a carved coral rose, a tighter coral rosebud and a carved turquoise forget-me-not with a diamond centre.
The rose represented passion, love and beauty, the forget-me-not symbolising true love and memories.
A miniature work of art.
For the best selection of these brooches see Anne Hull Grundy’s collection of lacepins in her bequest to the British Museum.
1.5 inches.
Immaculate original condition.
