Ozias Humphry RA (1742 –1810) was a leading English painter of portrait miniatures, later oils and pastels.He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1791, and in 1792 appointed Portrait Painter in Crayons to the King.
Popular in the c18th and through to the Regency period “Vandykes” were inspired by V-shaped points seen on collars in c17th portraits by Anthony Van Dyck,usually made of Venetian or Genoese lace.
