Unusual 'peridot'paste pinchbeck cannetille pansy necklace c.1820.More commonly found in pink or aqua,only very rarely in yellow-green to imitate peridot which was more commonly called olivine in the Georgian period.The pretty and delicate decorative filigree style setting of gold cannetille work is imitated in pinchbeck,a metal alloy of gilded copper and zinc. The original reeded multi-link triple chain leads to the original paste clasp.The design is graduated trefoil leaves ending to a pansy drop.Length 16 1/2 inches.Drop approx.1 inch by 1 inch.
