French provincial,often described as 'Perpignan garnet' this style of cutting,foiling and setting was typical of the Languedoc-Roussillon region from the late c18th and through the whole of the c19th.
This dazzling effect of the red foil and clever facetting creates flashes of purple and raspberry as you move the piece.
1.25 at widest point. Could be converted to a pendant.
