Exquisite moss agate 'specimen' resembling a tree in a landscape with a border of tiny old cut foiled diamonds, a miniature masterpiece.c.1780.

Later bevelled high carat shank, converted from a stickpin. 

Size 6. Bezel 1/2inch across.

Famously Thomas Gainsborough(1727-1788) had a similar gold and moss agate ring resembling a row of trees in a landscape which is now in the Ashmolean Collection,Oxford (Bequeathed by Mrs Reginald Lane Poole, 1931).
