Livia (30 January 59 BC – AD 29) was the first Roman empress and an immensely influential figure who helped shape the Roman Empire's early years. She was the trusted advisor and partner to Emperor Augustus, and securing the imperial succession for her son, Tiberius. Her likeness was widely disseminated on statues and coins, a first for a Roman woman. After her death in 29 CE, she was deified by her grandson, Emperor Claudius, in 42 CE, receiving the title Diva Augusta (The Divine Augusta). This cemented her lasting legacy as a state deity and a powerful symbol of the Roman imperial family.
