Late Georgian high-carat blue ribbon tied with an oval rose-diamond buckle c.1830.
Perhaps orginally a pendant bale for a pendant or locket of the highest quality.
The blue ribbon historically held the Order of the Holy Spirit, a French order of chivalry founded by Henry III of France in 1578.
Interestingly before Queen Victoria insisted on wearing white as she tied the knot with Albert in1840 brides wore blue as a symbol of purity hence the continuing tradition of wearing 'something blue'.
