Very fine black enamel and 22 carat gold Rococo mourning band for Scottish aristocrat Lady Mary Menzies.
The  band is very subtly scrolled in the Rococo manner.
It reads Lady Mary Menzies died 30th December 1773.

Lady Mary Steuart was born on 30 Apr 1712 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, to James Steuart, the 3rd Earl of Bute and Lady Anne Campbell Steuart Fraser. She was baptised 2 May 1712.
She married Baron Robert Menzies on 31 October 1729, in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland. 
Lady Mary and Sir Robert had only one daughter, Christian.They resided in the medieval family seat Castle Menzies in Weem.She died on 30 December 1773, in Perthshire, Scotland, at the age of 61.
