The young Anne in a white dress with pale pink bows at her bodice,a white lace bonnet and lace frilled choker with a pink flower in her hair.Set to a gold pendant frame with a gilt metal back.Signed with initials and dated 1749.Anne Hamilton, Duchess of Hamilton (1720 – 9 March 1771) formerly Anne Spencer, was the third wife of James Hamilton, 5th Duke of Hamilton. She was the daughter of Edward Spencer of Rendlesham, Suffolk, where she was born.
Gervase Spencer (c.1715–1763) was a self-taught and worked in enamels as well as watercolour.
