White enamel and high carat gold mourning ring with a bezel depicting a hair 'tree of life' bordered by iron pyrites. The mourning ring reads John Johnston Esquire 30th May 1768 aet 26. The shank is yet another subtle variation of these bands, I have never encountered this one like a softly waving branch with tiny 'thorns' at intervals. The shoulders are split with scrolling fleur-de-lys. Size 6.
Original condition, slight enamel loss and one cracked pyrites.
