Immaculate and substantial Georgian 18 carat gold and enamel mourning band inscribed for ‘James Hodgson Ob 23rd April 1819 aet 24’.

The ring is composed of two D-section bands deeply carved and chased with flowers and shells separated and bordered by black enamel with a central raised locket containing hair also bordered by enamel.

The inscription is inside the band beneath the bezel.
