Exceptional commemorative ring in 18 carat with a cleverly scrolled shank, part enamelled in Royal Blue inscribed 'God Save the Queen' set with a miniature medallion of Queen Victoria with Prince Albert to the reverse.c.1840.Likely to be commemorative of the Royal Marriage. They were married on 10 February 1840, in the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace, London.

A similar but lesser version can be found in the Royal Collection without the enamelled legend.Another parallel can be found in the Duke of Wellington's memorial ring in the Museum of London collection which bears an enamelled garter ribbon inscribed 'HONI.SOIT.QUI.MAL.Y.PENSE'.

Size 6.5. Weight 4.5 grams. Some wear to the enamel but all original and with such a rarity I am reluctant to restore.

Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death in 1901.Victoria married her first cousin Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1840.Her reign of 63 years and seven months was longer than any previous British monarch until Queen Elizabeth II.
