Sweet Georgian foiled topaz heart drop in closed back 15 carat gold setting c.1820.
The rich sherry hue of precious Imperial topaz has a sparkle all its own, and a distinctive surface. In the Georgian era topaz symbolised purity and goodness and was called an "honorable stone". It was a common stone in the rings of cardinals and bishops.
Long held as the birthstone for November.
