Large Georgian 18ct and chalcedony fob seal with an intaglio of a squirrel eating a hazelnut, the family crest of the Haselwood family c.1790.
The initials BH beneath the squirrel in an oval , likely relating to Benjamin Haselwood, a wealthy textile merchant, a mercer, recorded living in Bridgnorth in 1784.(see portrait).
The gold work is particularly decorative and fine.
