Exquisite George II rose diamond cluster mourning ring for Joseph Kell 1741.
Very fine rayed reverse to the bezel, and striking trifurcated shoulder design with scrolled sectional shank enamelled 'Jos Kell Ob Oct 1741 aet 87'.
All original rose diamonds including a plump central stone.
Only traces of enamel remain and there is evidence of a resizing.
Size 5. 2.38 grams.
Joseph Will of Woodbridge, Suffolk was a wealthy mariner and landowner and Lord of the Manor of Shottisham, Suffolk. There is an article in "Gentleman's Magazine" n the 24th Oct.1741 'The Death of Captain Kell of Woodbridge, Suffolk.'
