Delightful Georgian moss agate and amethyst bordered pendant c.1770. The dentritic ‘tree’ seems to sprout from a grassy mound. These ‘picture agates’ were highly prized in the c18th and chosen for their picturesque quality and resemblance to natural forms.

Stunning high carat gold rayed star motif to the reverse, rarely seen amongst all the reeded back styles of the c18th.

Originally the piece would have been a ring top later converted to a pendant.
