Substantial,  sculptural 15 carat gold Georgian cuffed hand pendant finely chased and textured, tightly holding a snake to symbolise undying love.c.1820.
The snake’s head nestles in the palm of the hand. The hand has a ruby set ring on the pinky and the foliate cuff is set with a foiled garnet.
Formerly a clasp the tongue is no longer present but the piece could be returned to original use for a Georgian chain.
