Delightful portrait miniature of a young girl with fashionably ‘unkempt’ hair by popular Irish miniaturist Frederick Buck c.1795.

Rare to find an example by Buck in such a small size.

Set to oval period 18ct glazed pendant frame.(later 18K stamp).

3.5cms by 3cms.

Frederick Buck (1771-1840),younger brother of the celebrated Adam Buck, was a prolific and successful artist working mostly in his native Cork where his sitters were local gentry and the passing military. He was a pupil of Dublin Society Drawing School in 1783 aged 12.Examples of his work can be found in the V&A collection.
