Extraordinary example of the work of Antoni Forrer, the Swiss goldsmith and celebrated 'artist in hair' (1803-1889) who settled in London by 1835.
This bracelet comprises five table-braided tubular rosettes in various shades each capped with high carat gold leaves and a central floret.The bracelet survives in it's original round cream-coloured cardboard box with Forrer's label on lid and is personally signed by the artist.
His work was shown at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and at the 1862 International Exhibition in London.He had 6 premises around Mayfair 1835-1882. His shop at 286 Regent St was his last from 1880-1882.
