Georgian flat-cut garnet foiled sunburst c.1760.
English work of the mid c18th when the art of cut-down settings in silver and very fine thin garnets set over rose pink foils created the most delightful effect.
The design is reminiscent of a sunburst or spiky dahlia with a central cluster and long flame-like petals.
Condition excellent, near mint.
Likely part of a suite of garnet jewellery,
Later converted to a drop.
1.5 inch diameter.
