Rare Regency period fede locket ring c.1820.
Finely chased hands hold a turquoise and diamond set forget-me-not with a hinged locket compartment, opening to reveal the memento of a tiny glazed panel with the hair of the beloved.
Hand motifs were a popular romantic symbol in Georgian jewellery, the clasped hands called "fede" from ‘mani in fede’(hands joined in faith) representing friendship, love, and betrothal.
15 ct gold, Persian turquoise, old cut diamond.
I have had quite a few examples with hands holding a central flower but this is unusual with the opening locket centre.
Size 6.
