Cairn Terriers, originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye.Prior to 1873, all terriers in Scotland were collectively referred to as Scottish terriers. The breed was initially described under the name "Short-haired Skye terrier",and by 1912 registered as the Cairn.
