Enigmatic and  rare late Georgian mourning band with an image of a coffin on black enamel. Stylistically I  cannot find an exact parallel with the single symbol of the coffin but without any other emblems of mortality. No date letter mark but 18 carat London hallmark and George III head. c.1805.

Large size 12.5. Ropetwist borders and gold condition fine but the black enamel chipped and worn. I pondered having the enamel restored but decided not to compromise the integrity of such a rare ring.
