Fine 22 carat and enamel rococo period mourning ring with a bezel of moss agate bordered by flat cut garnets dated 1762.
The scrolled shank reads ‘Eliz Clarke died 10 July 1762’.
The reverse contains a glazed locket containing a finely woven patch of hair.
Some minor age related wear to enamel, very fine condition.
This form of ring has always been a favourite of mine, the design is exquisite, the scale so delicate, the subtle choice of moss agate with garnets all making up a ring that weighs less than 2 grams.
A tiny work of art, totally impossible to reproduce today.
Size 7.
