Rare design of fringed early Victorian cut steel earrings with a scallop shell motif.c.1840.

The tiny original connectors are all present ,the tiny scale of the facetted studs point to the best work of the period. Later gold wires.English in origin. Just under 2 inches in length.

The exact scallop shell design can be see in brooch and earrings(without fringe) in the British Museum Hull Grundy Collection.

Other important collections of cut steel jewellery are held by the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Birmingham Museums Trust, and Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen.
