Early Victorian mourning ring  inscribed Elizabeth James obit 7 July 1844 aet 58, with a flowerhead bezel centred with an old-cut diamond,with shells and leaves carved in the shoulders ,profusely chased throughout.Full London hallmarks for 18ct and 1844. Size P(UK) 8 3/4(US).
 
Elizabeth was baptized on 1 August 1787 at the Church of St. Michael in Helston, Cornwall, England. Her parents were recorded as Richard and Ann James. Elizabeth James married James Burgess on 1 February 1814 at the Church of St Piran and St Nicholas in Perranuthnoe, Cornwall.She had two children,John and Catherine.She passed away in 1844 in Cornwall.
