Rare and striking Berlin Iron necklace composed of lyre and umbel motifs c.1830

Finely cast lyres with feathered scrolls and lace-like fish scale design connected by delicate floral umbel sections.

The cross pendant incorporates the same floral elements radiating from a tiny scallop shell. A fine oval rosette may be worn as an alternative pendant.

Necklace 22 inches.

A cross and earrings incorporating the same floral umbels from the Count Vrbna Ironworks in Horowitz in Central Bohemia can be seen in the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts.(p.283 Cast Iron from Central Europe by E.Schmuttermeier).

The exquisite skill involved in the production of decorative iron from the early c19th is highly esteemed by collectors and this necklace is one of the finest I have ever seen.
