Spectacular mourning ring with striped chevrons of white enamel and a border of sapphire blue paste with an octagonal central panel enclosing AW in seed pearls for Alice Worswick 1802.

Inscribed ‘Alice Worswick Obt.25th June 1802 Aet.70’.

Alice was the daughter of the Robert Gillow, founder of the famed cabinetmakers, Gillows of Lancaster in 1730.

She married Thomas Worswick and had 11 children, living to 70 years of age.

Her portrait hangs in the Lancaster City Museum.

Size 10.5. 9.7grams.

Housed in its original case with hand written label explaining that the ring was left as a gift by Ann Worswick’s daughter Agnes Andrade to her granddaughter,Agnes Maria Swarbreck.
