Unusual example of a late c18th sentimental love ring depicting a sacrificial ‘altar to love’, three rubies symbolising the flames. The plinth itself contains filaments of hair set to a mother-of-pearl ground.Hairwork also features in the exposed border of the ring,outlined in white enamel and bound with a gold buckle motif.
